BURN BAN SUNDAY, 8am December 8th

Post by egribble » Sat Dec 07, 2019 3:02 pm

https://ecology.wa.gov/About-us/Get-to-know-us/News/2019/Dec-6-Stage-1-burn-ban-called-for-Methow-Valley,-C

Hey Methow, our air has been stagnant for several days with air quality rated at unhealthy for sensitive groups for the last several days. When we collectively notice this, regardless of an Ecology burn ban, wouldn’t it be great if we all did our best to not put more smoke into the air? A respectful conversation suggesting this to your friends and neighbors is a great way to start improving our air quality.

Starting tomorrow, outdoor burning is not allowed. If you have an alternative to your wood stove for home heating, please use it.

Thanks, Liz Walker, Methow Valley clean air project

Hi! Just wondering how long the burn ban is in effect for? As someone who struggles with asthma, i've been soooo relieved to have a few days of solid breathing.Thank you Methow Valley for discontinuing your outdoor fires! But ala... house is pretty chilly and we'd love to know if it's ok to start a fire in our indoor fire place. Thank you!-avery

From OK County - posted and sent out to Okanogan County Emergency Management yesterday:

METHOW VALLEY STAGE ONE BURN BAN EXPIRES TOMORROW

Stage 1 burn ban in the Methow Valley, will expire tomorrow at 8 a.m.

If you visit their website you can subscribe to alerts sent to your email or phone

Also, if your fireplace is your only source of heat, you can legally use it.

Interesting that old forest sign across from Windermere hasn't changed since Sunday... still says " Burn ban NOT in effect..."
Just saying...

Thank you

IN my post above, "Tomorrow" is today 10/10 - sorry about that.
That means the sign at Twispworks is right -- right?

For some reason the first copy & paste I did left out the date:
METHOW VALLEY STAGE ONE BURN BAN EXPIRES TOMORROW

Stage 1 burn ban in the Methow Valley, will expire tomorrow at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019

Thanks Dave. My point was that the sign was never changed to "ON" during the ban...
